Dear Dollhouse Blog Followers,

I want to let you know I haven't forgot about you but I have been mucho busy. So many things going on and yet sorta slowly.

I'll make this sweet and to the point. So much more to do with the house, so much more create about to go into it but for now I'm putting away the project. I will resume it in October or November.

I have to visit friends and my church in Oahu and I may even go visit relatives on the mainland. So this is a kind and thoughtful good bye.

But as Winnie the Pooh says "It's so much friendlier with two." so please come back then!

Attic Rooms Up

Well the attic rooms are finally going up. I have to order some door trim and some kind of molding for the ceiling from eBay real fast. Very soon I'll have the upstairs and all inner rooms done. Then I'll do a bit of molding to tackle the edges, something to cover them, and then I'll leave the rest of the outside to be done another time. I will actually start to decorate the inside. At least set everything up and take some pictures.

I wanted to fill in the bubble as "Ara, come have a pic nic with me.", lol. But if he looks as gloomy as Eeyore to you as he does to me, you've pick up on the household gloom that's been following me around for weeks now.

Perhaps it's time to clean house.

I never knew his house existed in pictures but now I have one!

Since for one half of this upstairs room I have no illustration reference I'm kinda doing it my way with the stove, sink and shelves. I'm also going to hang copper molds on the wood wall which is ideal since the pins can be placed in the gaps between the boards without leaving a significant mark.

Also with the English foods above, I heard mention that Winnie the Pooh's house was very British, I'm not sure if I've captured that but I do know I wanted some British foods anyhow.

This incredible collection of auctions went up on eBay and I got all 5 things from the same seller.

Cornish Pasties, Scone and Butter, Custard Tart, Jam Sponge Cake and a unique bun baking tray by Warwick miniatures. I love them all!! And they all ended for about $2.50 each.

Though I love nothing as well as my Debs buttered toast and Ara's chair and hunny hutch for me. Those are true love ;)

Chocolate Bars for Winnie the Pooh

These chocolate bars were made by Pei Li at Miniature Patisserie.

I wanted chocolate because Pooh Bear mentions milk and chocolate in the Up Down Touch the Ground song. I also spotted a jar labled chocolate in a honey cupboard illustration.

Well here's my upstairs fireplace. I think it looks good. I like the boldness of the green. It's turquoise! Does it remind anyone else of Paris 1908? Like it looks like something you'd find in a run down apartment near the Moulin Rouge. What is that style called? I guess it's not a style so much as a look.

Well it also looks playful and I think it goes with Owls upstairs parlor just fine.

Oh my goodness! My favorite miniture artisan Eileen Vernon has agreed to make me 3 personalized honey pots! Wow, and to think I've been looking on ebay for one to show up and she was right there all along, contactable and able to make them for me. And she only wants $13 a piece! she says she'll be busy until July but I don't mind the wait. And we'll all have to wait and see what she comes up with!

Phew, Im exhuasted. That kitchen wall has a scratch in it, should I wear the whole wall down or stain it darker in those areas? Also my ceiling paint doesn't match and I'm hesitant to paint those side walls. I guess if I cover and tape well it will be okay. These pictures make the house look more like a house than the illustrations but that's what you get at 2am after constucting for hours.

Owls is looking very English. I'm still going to do shelves in the kitchen.

By the way I won the contest below, but it was just me and another participant. I wonder if I'd have won if several others had entered? Well it was fun to make.

Biding the time ~*~ Breakfast in Bed

I've been doing a swap "Within the Castle Walls". Only 4 signed up, so not including myself I only had to make 3 sets. I had this perfect sheet fabric so I just sat down and made them. Then pillow cases. I realized I had to fit it into the theme so I went for breakfast in bed. Who would be having breakfast in bed within a castle? I don't know but I can assume it's a modern castle, British, possibly someone with Children and who's planning on herself or someone else's getting married.

When I think castle I think living comfortably and breakfast in bed with all the things I'd like to read plus a yummy breakfast and very comfy sheets.

So I'm still waiting on some doilies and trays. Technically we're supposed to make it all, but I did pretty good with the bedding, breakfast, books and magazine. The plates and silverware I had around in extras, and I ordered the tea and roses.

I had fun trying different napkin folds for the silver, I ultimately went with that fold because I thought it looked good with the gingham. I recommend, cutting some squares, and getting out your iron and trying this some time. You could even look up folds online. What a blast.

Anyhow, crossed fingers to my order arriving in two weeks and I can thus continue my dollhouse.

Mom donated this to Owl's because it's too big for her dollhouse, not enough room.

I finished this pantry or larder. I'm going to sell it on eBay, maybe I'll get something for it. I guess I should put some extra food minis I've got around in it, it might spice it up a bit.

This outlet ceased to work even though it did before I glued it in. I couldn't take it out and had left a mark on the wallpaper, so I've covered it with some wood, clever huh?

Pantry vrs. Plain Shelves

I put this cupboard together last night. I'm impartial to it because it makes the room feel closed up to me. Maybe I shouldn't have done blue shelves and a blue door. I could line them with gingham paper. I turned it backwards so you guys could see what shelves would look like which I think I prefer but let me know what you think. I can sell the cupboard on ebay so no biggie if it doesn't go.

Just waiting on the ceiling paper to finish the bedroom moulding.

I made a huge mistake and did the moulding on the bathroom ceiling. So I'll have to cut a near perfect piece of ceiling paper. I'll make a template with a piece of plain paper and when I get one that fits exactly I'll trace the ceiling paper and fit it in.

And then I plan to fit Owls bedroom on the third story. The items that are facing front, the tall dresser and nightstand kinda match the bed.
I put some minis in but that's not the actual layout... I'm still stumped on it but I'm sure I'll make it go right.

Tudor Scene I Made for a "Make".

This is my first time making miniature food, or clay items. First time making a table, fireplace, fire, and waddle & daub walls. Pretty good huh?!
I made everything, including the prints. I didn't make the serving ware or fireplace screen. And the cat was a miniature commission. Oh and the picture frame & basket. Everything else, the jug, benches, table, food, room box... I made :D

It was for Christina, she has a shop called Dragonscale Miniatures so I thought feast with a dragon. The rest just stemmed from that, cause the theme was "What's that Smell?". Tee hee hee, Me and Ara are posting the pics on our blogs, but Marie did so weeks ago so it's okay.

Bathroom Update

So I'm going for a natural woodsy cute bathroom look.

I still have some sanding and touch ups on this wall to go and then I'm going to glue the 2nd story floor board.

Do you guys from March recall this bathtub I found a mold for? Well someone was listing one already made for $1.99 with $2.00 shipping on eBay and I won it for that! It's great because I was ready to get that mold and make one.

I sandpapered the flower decal off and have ordered some white model paint to redo it in. I almost want to leave it worn but.... it'll look good with the new paint.

Also, it had this ceramic faucet and handles which I sawed & sanded off. I'm going to get some gold ones to replace them with.
Do you guys know of any cute ones around? I wanted something really unique and fancy.

Reading this interesting page on Owl from the classic books, I thought it was funny and darn my speed reading thought it said he could spell Measles and Buttered Toast, hahaha, but apparently he "comes under the scanner" with such words. Non the less I knew I'd need buttered toast and a thermometer in Wols house!

Debbie heard my cry and really me some! These are incredible, I love them!
I'm co creating some of the candy boxes for the Harry Potter Honeydukes she's creating!

These will bring so much life to Owls social gatherings. Now I have to do all the characters!!! Oh the joy :D

Truly my favorite miniatures are my horse brushes, birthday cake, quilts, paintings, pots, chair, cupboard and anything personally given or made. Who'd have thought I'd grow up to appreciate art so much? It's a good place to be, I'm happy to have arrived.

I've been the walking dead for the past couple days though, I've been up until pretty late and I owe you guys some pics this weekend. I owe myself some sleep.

Mom's Dollhouse Decorated

Well I got squat done on it but we went ahead and decorated it anyway. I realized mom needs a better house, a bigger one and I think we thought I should get a cheap kit for practice, boy was it ever! Wow, lots of mistakes I won't be making again, that's for sure!

I love my mom's taste in miniautres. Moms, we appreciate them. Dads too.

Here's his new fireplace. I finally figured out how to use those red bricks. I love this so much better. What I really need is some white with tiny blue polka dots fabric like in the illustration. I might just have to fabric pen some plain white. Better check eBay first ;)

I got the bricks hoping I could make a little fireplace but working with that chalk stone is difficult. The bricks on the fireplace are leftover from the flooring. I went for a whitewash brick look.

Here are some furnishings for Owls half.

I think I'm gunna paint the writing desk and sidetable brown. I don't know for sure yet, too bad they can be further stained.

I imagine Christopher Robin practices his handwriting at Owls house, thus the writing tablet and pencil.

It's absurd since Owls spelling is horific but nothing comapred to Pooh's. Perhaps it's where Owl practices his own handwriting too, lol.

So I'm ready to lay the brick the floors. I've dry fit all the doors and realized I needed to raise them a bit to be level with the bricks. I'm super hesitant to do anything with the brick floor yet because this could be the part I screw up, but I asked my All Things Mini forum friends and I think they'll guide me as best they can.
So far all my lights work but I broke my bulb on the one wall sconce, don't ask me how, and I have to replace the whole light insert thingy. Luckily I already ordered two the other day. I still need 2 more for the fire places. I want replaceable bulbs everywhere is why, not the standard rice bulbs for the fireplace.
I never realized those sconces unscrewed.

I'm making it go right though.

I accidentally lost the brass brads for the tape wire, so I had to order new ones.

But I got two new miniatures for the house in the last two weeks.

One is a painting of "Foxgloves" that kinda looks like the meadows of the 100 Aker Woods done by the fantastic Sandie Coe.

And the other is a superb quilt by Beverly Quilts, the pattern is Broken Dishes.

I think the sheep in the painting can be refered to as a Herbacious Backson, I found a great reference at Topher's Castle, Christopher Robins Winnie-the-Pooh Character Guide:

Finally, Brushes For Pooh!

These little babies were a gift from a friend who I did a transparent window print for. I adore their rustic look and I'm finding the more and more objects like this the more it comes to life. I was talking to my mother earlier and she said "oh no" to this hutch I found on New England Miniatures, and I said, for Owls, and she said he was more rustic. I agree.

And I love all things organic.

I actually do natural dish soap, detergent, shampoo, tampons, and I buy organic when I can going on 9 years. I don't watch TV anymore, going on over 2 years now. I rent movies of course, but TV is too emotionless for me.

I even refuse to take pills or medication from big pharma, the evil drug pushers. Besides I know all the real solutions, cleaning with rubbing alcohol and lemon juice, you know, find those germs. It kills em fast and good and is an ultra safe cleaner. When sick I take 1000 mg of vitamin c every hour on the hour, along with some vitamin e, b complex, and iron. That will do it every time.

If I sleep uneasy or have a nightmare I take b1. It's always a b1 deficiency, even in children.

And the holy grail of it all, good for bones, sleeping, headaches, anything and everything or just to feel superb, Calcium Magnesium CalMag-C.

Well I was so utterly undecided but today on this wonderful rainy day I decided to mock the whole thing up and see what it would look like. L Ron Hubbard gives this basic definition of art he says, ART is a word which summarizes THE QUALITY OF COMMUNICATION.

I think this raises the quality of communication and since I asked Mom, whom I was going to agree with no matter what, she suggested I do the upstairs and so I will.

So Hooray! Now I know :D

Now the question is, how will I do a wall over that arch? Will I have to cut a triangle into the wood to fit over it? Or should I do a wall next to it? I'm thinking wall next to it so I can lay the roof piece over the two arches and then do my shingles.

What do you think?

This is not to show how its going to be set up so much as how crowded it is.

I was hoping to have a kitchen which is a mix between these two pictures.

Should I throw caution to the wind and do a 2nd story? mom was talking about a space for owl and although it makes no sense, it would be playful and I could do a downstairs kitchen and an upstairs eating room.

See that lantern there? I've seen those around. This could be the downstairs.

This 2nd picture could be the upstairs and thus explain the vaulted ceiling.

How do I incorporate that 1st picture into this room?

It would be the same room. Has anyone seen wallpaper like that with the yellow stripes?

This is the sitting room so far. The blue is a little lighter than I thought when I bought it. That's Piglets chair, I'm still looking for the right wing back chair for Pooh Bear. I guess I indulged a little here on what I liked flooring wise.

I'm not particularly set on any room but the kitchen dining and entry room. If anyone sees any wallpapers they like or has any ideas, let me know.

It was a last minute decision to do a bathroom, I haven't put a lot of thought into yet... I'm open to any ideas anyone has. I know I'd like a wider claw foot bath. I can't find one, just this mold. For the record I actually thought about buying it and paying the fee for using the ceramics studio near here. LOL

I decided to show Mom what was remaining on her dollhouse, and then it occurred to me to show her it lit up. Oh she was so pleased to see it like that. It's so romantic, this dollhouse lit.

The bedroom is just going to have a standing lamp.
Like I'm going to cover all the rough edges of wood and finish all the outer decorative trim.
She has more furnishings, I'll photograph it finished.
I think that door needs to be painted mahogany or dark brown.
A few touch ups and I'll have a done, lol.

This is how I'm doing the kitchen, I'm going to put the fireplace on the wall next to the chair. Not behind it but on the left wall. I found the flooring, siding, and paint color.

I've ordered the last of my building supplies, thank god. I'm still working on my mom's dollhouse right now, I want to get it done and learn from my mistakes before I do anything with Pooh's house. I've made so many already and I rush through everything, god you'd think I was a factory worker on an assembly line, no patience at all. I'm not going to koch Pooh's house up for the same reason. I'm not worried though. I'll post some pictures of the kit I'm putting together for Mama later .... possibly Sunday.

We see a lot of gingham in the old illustrations. I have the red one too. Oh and I just realized I have gingham exactly like the tablecloth in the illustration, gotta get around to that project.

This is the collection of images I'm using to plan the whole house, details, color palate and furnishings.

E.H. Shepard drew these in the 1920's and he was British so I'm trying to get things from that era as well as copy what I see.

There are two things that I really want, well four.... well five. The blue chair, the pink striped chair, the round wall clock with the hanging pendulums, and that kitchen chair with the pillow on it. I'd also like that hat rack and a larger barometer than the one I have. Heidi Ott sells one for $36 about the right size but tht's too $$$, I'm already planning on a $28 splurge for the hat and umbrella from Reutter.

The Garden

See what I mean by a half roof? I'll be putting shingles on it. I think it will accent the outside garden to look more outdoors and make playing in the sitting room easier.
I think the bedroom window will help a lot too.

Bedroom and Bathroom

So this is the bedroom and bathroom, I'll be putting in a wall next to the dvds. The other side is going to be the outside, a garden. There will be a half roof on the sitting room which has the vaulted ceiling.

I think it will make the outside garden look more realisitc, I also have a window for the bedroom wall there.

As you can see I haven't cut the door to the dining area or bedroom window yet.

Home Sweet Home

So this is the room I just showed which has the front door and door to sitting room and bedroom. This was the inspirational design for my entire layout. I frown on the height of my ceiling but I didn't want my dollhouse partly in a tree like the real Pooh house, I figured I didn't have the artistic ability to carve a tree siding out of clay and more importantly I didn't want a ceiling.

The windows I got were huge, but I needed one with this certain style, I forgot what it's called, I'll be posting the details later.

The door to the bedroom hasn't been cut yet.

I'm only going to have a front door but not a wall so its easy to play and see inside the room.
